The seminar was moderated by Professor Semee Yoon from the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University, and featured a presentation by Mycle Schneider, publisher of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report, titled "Insights from the World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2024: Bridging the Gap Between Perception and Industrial Realities" Mycle Schneider presented the World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2024, discussing the latest trends and future outlook for the nuclear industry. He analyzed global trends in the construction and closure of nuclear power plants, emphasizing the significant roles of China and Russia. Schneider also compared the decreasing costs of renewable energy with the rising costs of nuclear power, highlighting the image problem of nuclear energy, its public acceptance issues, and the geopolitical challenges it faces. Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies Professor Jiyeoun Song moderated the seminar, and Australian National University Doctor Darren Lim gave a presentation titled "Balancing market versus state in economic security: The experience of Australia." Dr. Lim discussed the Austrian government as a member of the Washington Consensus once being reluctant to intervene in the economy but now making more decisions to intervene with national security in mind. The argument is that the growing concerns of the Australian government and the economic shocks it faced led to this shift. The seminar was concluded that while there are concerns, the realistic conditions such as institutions, expertise, and conceptual frameworks limit this shift.
