The Institute of International Affairs has released the new Pacific Report No. 37.
In this issue, Professor Young Nam Cho, Professor of the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University, contributed an article titled <An Exchange of Grand Ceremony for a Cute Pair of Pandas? An Analysis of the Washington U.S.–China Summit>.
Professor Cho explains that during President Xi Jinping’s visit, the “unprecedented protocol” extended to him attracted particular attention.
According to Professor Cho, China emphasizes that, through the summit, the United States and China agreed to establish a relationship based on mutual respect, fairness, and reciprocity.
Professor Cho comments that there is vivid evidence of a historic transformation in the international order from a “U.S.-led unipolar system” to a “U.S.–China-led multipolar system.”
