Pak (Distinguished Associate Fellow, Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy – VUB) Luis Simón (Director, Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy – VUB   Moderator: Prof. Sheen Seong-ho (Dean of SNU GSIS) Language: English     The Seoul National University Institute of International Affairs held the Global Strategy Seminar on October 21st, 2025, in the Global Leaders Room (Bldg. 140, Room 201). The seminar was moderated by Professor Sheen, Seong-ho of SNU GSIS and presented by Sophie Briquetti from Nato, Daniel Fiott, Jung H. Pak and Luis Simón from Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy under the title “Responses to a Triple Korean Peninsula-Taiwan-Europe Contingency”  The seminar started from the question: How does the Korean Peninsula matter for European and Indo-Pacific security? The panel sought to discuss how the Korean Peninsula fits into broader cross-regional (i.e. Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic) strategic debates. The panel considered how intra-regional and crossregional calculations may impinge on how certain actors, including the United States and Europe, may approach the Korean Peninsula both in peacetime (deterrence) and wartime. The panelists identified and discussed key trade-offs and dilemmas and thus addressed how Korea-related developments may impinge on regional and global security and vice versa.
