(Wednesday) 12:00pm-1:30pm Place: SNU GSIS International Conference Hall (140-2Bldg. 4F) Presenter:  Dr. Ralph Ossa (WTO Chief Economist and Director of the Economic Research and Statistics Division) Moderator: Prof. Myung-Hee Yoo (Former Minister for Trade, Visiting Professor of SNU GSIS) Language: English    The Seoul National University Institute of International Affairs held the “30th Global Prominence Seminar” on September 4, 2024 in the International Conference Hall (Bldg. 140-2, Room 401). Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies Professor Myunghee Yoo moderated the seminar, and WTO Chief Economist and Director of the Economic Research and Statistics Division Dr. Ralph Ossa gave a presentation titled “Global Trade at a Crossroads: Addressing Global Challenges through the WTO”. Dr. Ossa discussed the state of world trade with a focus on the gradual trade growth in a challenging environment and the trend of geopolitical tensions and digital trade. On the state of the WTO, Dr. Ossa asserted that while the WTO continues to deliver on its mandate, it is still in need of reform. In the third part, global challenges such as the changing narrative surrounding globalization as well as re-globalization were covered.
