The Insitute of International Affairs has released the new Pacific Report No. 9. In this issue, Director Seong-ho Sheen of the Institue of International Affairs at Seoul National University contributed an article titled '2024 US Presidential Election and the Korean Peninsula'.
Director Sheen explains that President Biden declared this election as critical for the fate of American democracy.
However, there are still many variables that make it too early to determine the next president. There is particular concern that, should Trump be reelected, it could lead to even greater turmoil and uncertainty.
He argues that the South Korean government faces a serious challenge, with the potential of the Peninsula becoming a new flashpoint during the 2024 election.
